Lihua's research interests are in software requirements engineering, software architecture design and analysis with respect to quality attributes, and software testing. Her dissertation explored multiple-objective decision analysis for best addressing conflicting quality attributes in designing software architecture for large-scale systems.

Lihua earned her PhD of Software Engineering from the Donald Bren School of Information and Computer Sciences at the University of California, Irvine.

Lihua has authored and co-authored a number of papers on subjects related to Software Architecture Design and Analysis, and Software Testing. She has presented her research work at various conferences.
