Instructional Faculty

We are currently searching for three faculty positions at open rank.

Applications are invited for multiple full-time tenure-track or tenured positions at any rank in the Department of Software Engineering at Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT). RIT is committed to being a student-centered, research university. As part of that commitment, Assistant Professors will be expected to teach two courses per year through year five, with tenure review in year six when multiple plans of work are available.  RIT is also positioned to provide excellent startup funding for PhD students, equipment, and travel in support of building a robust research program. The university provides support for gaining external funding, including several internal seed funding opportunities.

The department has multiple positions with a start date August 2017.

  • Responsibilities/Specific Job Duties:
    • Provides consulting support to students, faculty, and staff. Refers questions to other consulting sources when necessary.
    • Ensures that all equipment is treated with proper care and is not removed without proper authorization.
    • Logs equipment damage and malfunctions with management.
    • Records required statistical information for reporting purposes.
    • Provides users with access to reference manuals and other available information upon request.
    • Provides assistance and support for printers, computers, and other equipment.
    • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Qualifications / Special Skills Required:
    • Excellent customer service attitude and strong communication skills.
    • Consulting or training experience.
    • Experience with using and troubleshooting computer software and hardware.
    • Friendly, enthusiastic, and reliable.
    • Willingness to learn.
Adjunct Faculty

Visiting Lecturers

We are currently in the process of hiring two Visiting Lecturers for the 2015-2016 academic year. The successful candidates will be able to teach a range of courses covering basic and advanced topics in software engineering. This may include: introduction to software engineering; design patterns; secure software; enterprise software; concurrent and distributed software; real-time and embedded systems; requirements and architecture; process and project management; mathematical models of software.
