Dr. Naveda graduated in 1979 with a B. S. in Computer Systems Engineering from Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey, Monterrey, Mexico. In 1986 he earned a Ph.D. in computer and information science from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. From 1986 until 1988 he was with the faculty of the department of computer science at the University of Kansas. In 1988 he joined the department of the computing sciences at University of Scranton, Scranton PA where he helped develop and direct that school's MS program in software engineering. Later in 1993, he joined RIT's department of computer science where he taught until 1997, when RIT's department of software engineering was formed. He is one of the department's founders. An IEEE/Computer Society Certified Software Development Professional (CSDP) certificate holder, Dr. Naveda is an IEEE Computer Society member and is in the Society's Educational Activities Board. He has been involved in the development of the Society's Certified Software Development Professional (CSDP) exam.
