I am a business management graduate of RIT and have been with the department since its inception in the summer of 1997. In my role as a professional advisor, I have the unique opportunity to assist students in meeting the demands, challenges, stresses, and opportunities as they progress through our program. The academic advising relationship is a vehicle I can use to share my knowledge and experience in a more personal way than is possible in the more formal class atmosphere. Good academic advising can help the student bridge the gaps between personal, academic and career requirements. I believe that when good advising supports a student, he/she will be in a better position to implement and monitor a program of study consistent with individual values, goals, interests and abilities. In addition to academic advising, I help recruit students and I am responsible for the enforcement of academic policies and procedures for the department. You should come to me with day-to-day advising questions such as courses to take next quarter, where a course would fit on your SE worksheet, taking a course at another university, advanced placement and transfer credits, co-op eligibility, and other nuts-and-bolts questions. I maintain open office hours for quick questions and I meet with students by appointment that can be scheduled through our department's main office. You can reach me by email at lana@se.rit.edu.
