Introduction to Christopher Ketant

09 Sep 2013

Hello! My name is Christopher Ketant. I am a fifth year software engineering major with a minor in Web Development. I am the President of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Mu Sigma Chapter here at R.I.T. I am also a member of the National Society of Black Engineers. I have completed a coop with the National Science Foundation at Notre Dame University focusing on measuring energy consumption in the computing enviornment. I have completed an additional coop with Intel Corporation developing a Test Framework for their Raidport Storage Driver as well as assist in refactoring the driver. My most recent coop was with Apple, Inc. I was an intern on the iOS Web Services and Tools team. My expected graduation date is May 2014.

This research sparked my interest for several reasons. One, I never had the opportunity to work with such a large dataset before. Analyzing a large dataset like this is more realistic in the real world so this research will offer me that experience. This research will force me to understand and look at raw data with more of a scientific outlook searching for any implications. The dataset itself is, I believe, untapped and could yield powerful and useful information applicable to software engineers everywhere. Lastly, I am interested in pursuing Graduate school so this experience will assist me in getting the feel for what is coming ahead.

I believe the results of our research will show significant findings that prove valuable to the field. Since we are such a diverse group I believe a lot of different approaches and prospectives will be offered and explored. Inspection logs are laden with information and are snapshots of living software projects so as a result we are looking back on the life of the software how it was raised essentially.
