Introduction to Rachel Catipovic

26 Sep 2014

My name is Rachel Catipovic and I am a 4th year Game Design and Development student with a minor in Russian Language and Culture.

This project is very different from anything I am used to working on, and I don’t have much experience in this field, but I am very excited to be working on something new! So far the project team members have been extremely helpful in getting me set up and on the right track, which has been a breath of fresh air. I came into this project knowing nothing about Ruby or ActiveRecord, and already after six weeks I have expanded my knowledge quite a bit– which is great because there are very few opportunities in the game design major to learn or use Ruby. I am hoping to get a little deeper into ActiveRecord in the next few weeks– thus far I have only just barely skimmed the surface. I’m hoping to walk away from this project with a useful skill set that I can apply to my co-ops and future jobs. As much as a love making games, I would really like to broaden my skill set, and I think this project is an interesting and fun way to do it!

Team meetings are always very interesting for me to attend, as I am constantly garnering knowledge about how the entire project is coming together. I am still only working on my first assignment within the project, and I feel like I have learned a ton. I’m looking forward to seeing what the rest of the year has in store for me!
