Project Deliverable - Audit Phase:
Organizational Vulnerabilities

Individual Assignment

Your team had a chance earlier in the term to explore some challenges pertaining to the proper behaviors needed to ensure efficiency and harmony throughout the semester. We have also reviewed how influence, interests and goals have an impact on the overall "ethical" success of a project. For this assignment you are to explore "potential" vulnerabilities that could impact your organization on either project basis or technical aspects of your project.

There are two main categories to carry out this "audit" which you should consider you are conducting as "external" Evaluator. In that role you are meant to detect problems and suggest areas for improvement, particularly to address any areas where your project and product might be succeptible to attack, harm or conflict of interest. For each vulnerability area capture the following into a shared document:

  1. Label each category section either "PROJECT VULNERABILITIES" [PV] and "TECHNICAL VULNERABILITIES" [TV]
  2. For each category section create a numbered list of vulnerabilities by identifying for each:
    • PV # or TV #
    • Culprit or root cause: brief description of the entity
    • Access "vector": brief description of the area in your software workflow/ organization / business or development process / etc. where the vulnerability could be exploited
    • Possible solution: brief description of how the occurence or damage of the exploit can be removed/reduced
    • Other: aspects that you consider are essential to be defined up-front for the team to avoid the vulnerabilities from working together.

    • Describe what your team considers to be the elements for defining the "priority" for the above vulnerabilities.
    • Based on that definition of "priority" select the top 2 elements of each category section and create a "catastrophic" scenario narrative (story) where all of these exploits come to "fruition".

Submission Instructions

Prior to next class, submit the Organizational Vulnerabilities as (PDF) document to the team submission area in MyCourses.
