Bob Loce is a Patent Technical Specialist at Datto Inc, focusing on protecting business data and disaster recovery. Formally, he was a Research Fellow at Xerox and PARC, as Xerox Company, leading projects in the area of computer vision applied to surveillance and transportation. The surveillance technologies were aimed at delivering cost-effective safety and security through the detection of particular behaviors as observed by camera networks. His team’s work in intelligent transportation systems aimed at improving roadway safety and efficiency through computer vision monitoring of roadways. A significant portion of Bob’s earlier career at Xerox was devoted to development of image processing methods for color electronic printing.
Bob received a PhD in Imaging Science from RIT, becoming RIT's first PhD in 1993. He also has an MS in Optics from University of Rochester, a BS in Photographic Science from RIT, and an AAS in Optical Engineering Technology from Monroe Community College.
He is a registered patent agent, and in the fields of image processing, video processing, optics and printing he has been awarded over 250 US patents. He has recently completed editing and co-authoring a book entitled Computer Vision and Imaging in Intelligent Transportation Systems, and has also authored 30 refereed journal papers, 60 conference publications, one book, eight book chapters and milestone publications. He is a Fellow of SPIE and a Senior member of IEEE.
