Usability

Class Plan:

Usability Testing Activity

There are two primary components of this activity. Your team will perform a self-evaluation of usability, and then have another team evaluate your software and provide feedback.

Self-team Evaluation

1. Review your application for aspects of bad usability.
• Easy to learn?
• Easy to use?
• Easy to understand?
2. Document these issues
3. Repair them

Cross Team Evaluation

After you have repaired the usability issues, you will next have another team evaluate your software.

1. You will be assigned with another team.
2. Have one member of your team rotate to assigned team.
3. Observe team member reviewing your software.
4. Collect feedback. Remember to: (note that this is a very informal method of assessment.)
• Not interrupt the user.
• Merely collect data.
5. Make the repairs.

Final Presentation Reminder

Remember your final presentation is coming up soon. The time is now! Your team has a number of self-directed activities to complete in the next weeks that require planning. Primary is conducting the testing and completing the implementation. Do not wait until after Thanksgiving to get started. Agree when you will meet to get the work done.
