Research Analysis
The goal of this individual exercise is to ensure that you are becoming familiar with both the writing style and content of research, and are becoming familiar with your selected research area. You may use the following template to complete this activity. Your analysis should be no more than 1-2 pages in length. Selected papers should have been published in the last 2 years at a peer reviewed venue. They should also be full papers (with a likely length of about 10-12 pages).
- Title of Work: Merely list the title of the work you examined.
- Venue: Briefly describe the venue (conference, workshop, journal) that this work was accepted to.
- Rationale to ensure venue quality: How do you know that this is a reasonably reputable venue? Briefly describe the process you used (rankings, citation counts etc....)
- Problem Statement: Create a problem statement for the work. If one already exists, use your own words.
- Paper Synopsis: Briefly describe what the paper was about. What research questions did it have? What data it it use etc...
- Takeaways: Briefly describe the main takeaways of the paper
- Future Work: What work could be done to build off this research?
- Improvements: Do you feel that there are any improvements the authors could make to their study or to the techniques they created as part of their study? Please explain.
- Replication: Do you think you could replicate this study based on the write-up and the data made available as part of the paper? If not, why?
