Amazon EC2 Spot team is interested in investigating distributed open source architectures to lower the barrier of entry for their potential Spot instances customers.
This project will consist of modifying one to many open source distributed computing packages to run on Amazon's EC2 Spot instances; easing the process of switching a distributed computing solution over to Spot computing. The sponsors will provide the team with a list of potential frameworks to investigate further. The team will analyze the projects to determine the steps necessary to make the framework run on Spot instances. Upon completion of each integration, the team will distribute our work back to the project mainline. The team will provide an application demonstrating the use of distributed architectures incorporating Spot, in comparison to the team's Spot architecture solution to demonstrate an increase in usability and stability.
